Preferred Putting Lab was born from personal tournament preparation and one simple question: Can performance on the greens be improved through equipment when guided by real data?

With a background in technology and communication - and a lifelong passion for golf, particularly the science behind putters and how variables such as head design, length, lie angle, loft, swing weight, grip, shaft, and alignment influence performance - we set out to remove the guesswork from putting improvement.

Through extensive testing and data-driven analysis of countless putter configurations, it became clear that objective measurement reveals performance differences that feel and visual perception alone often miss.

That pursuit evolved into Preferred Putting Lab: a year-round indoor golf performance studio built for golfers who want to better understand their game through measurable results. As a PGA Associate, Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) Certified, and Level 3 SAM PuttLab Certified Putting Studio, our approach combines industry-leading technology with modern coaching principles to help golfers improve with purpose and confidence.

Our studio also offers full swing instruction and simulator-based practice in a controlled indoor environment. Whether you're dialing in your putting stroke, comparing equipment, preparing for tournament play, or developing your full swing, every session is built around one goal: helping you make smarter decisions through objective data.

 Scott Shiple is the Founder and Lead Coach at Preferred Putting Lab. Scott competed at the collegiate and advanced amatuer level. His own pursuit of better performance, particularly on the greens, sparked an obsession with the science of putting and the measurable impact that equipment, technique, and preparation have on scoring.

Before launching Preferred Putting Lab, Scott built a career in the technology industry specializing in Customer Success. Combining his analytical mindset with his passion for golf, he founded Preferred Putting Lab to help golfers improve through objective data, expert coaching, and personalized equipment recommendations. His philosophy is simple: better information leads to better decisions, greater confidence, and better performance on the course.

Scott earned bachelor's degrees in Business Administration and Exercise & Sport Science from Carthage College. He also holds a certificate in Leadership and Management from the Northwestern University School of Professional Studies and is committed to continually advancing his coaching expertise and education.

Scott is a PGA Associate, a Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) Certified Coach, and a Level 3 Certified Putting Instructor through Science & Motion. As an active tournament player, he brings firsthand experience to every lesson, sharing the same preparation strategies, performance insights, and data-driven approach that he relies on in competition.
